# Frequently asked questions about Nonna

> Find quick answers to common questions about downloading Nonna, making calls, family networks, pricing, billing, and privacy and data protection.

Whether you're setting up Nonna for the first time or helping a family member, these answers cover the most common questions. If you need more help, visit the [contact page](/contact).

## Getting started

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Is Nonna available on iPhone?">
    Nonna is currently available on Android via [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=digital.nonna.app). An iOS version is coming soon. You can join the waitlist on the Nonna website to be notified when it launches on the App Store.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I need a smartphone to use Nonna?">
    Yes, Nonna is a mobile app that requires an Android smartphone (or iOS once available). You do not need a tablet, laptop, or any special equipment — just a phone with a camera and internet access.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What do I need to set up Nonna?">
    You need:

    * An Android smartphone
    * An internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
    * An email address or phone number to create your account

    A family member can help you download the app and add contacts with photos so everything is ready before your first call.

## Calls

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What if my family member doesn't answer?">
    If the person you're calling doesn't answer, the call ends and they receive a notification that you tried to reach them. You can tap their photo again to call back at any time.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is my video blurry or choppy?">
    Video quality depends on your internet connection. If your video is blurry or keeps freezing:

    * Move closer to your Wi-Fi router
    * Check that no other apps or devices are using a lot of bandwidth
    * Switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi if possible

    Nonna is designed to work well on slower connections, but a stronger signal always helps. See the [troubleshooting guide](/troubleshooting) for more steps.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I call multiple family members at once?">
    Currently, Nonna supports one-to-one video calls. Group calling is not available yet. Each family member appears as a separate contact, so you can easily call them one at a time.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do both people need the app?">
    Yes. Both the caller and the person being called must have Nonna installed on their phone. Once both are set up, calling is as simple as tapping a photo.

## Pricing & billing

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What happens after the free trial?">
    Your 7-day free trial gives you full access to Nonna at no cost. When the trial ends, you can choose a paid plan inside the app:

    * **Monthly** — £15.49/month, billed monthly
    * **Annual** — £89.99/year, best value

    If you do not select a plan, your access will pause until you subscribe.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I cancel anytime?">
    Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from inside the app. Your access continues until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. You won't be charged again after you cancel.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do all family members need a paid plan?">
    No. Only one subscription is needed per family. The person who sets up the account pays for the plan, and all family members added to that network can make and receive calls without needing their own subscription.
  </Accordion>

## Privacy & security

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Are my calls private?">
    Yes. All video calls on Nonna are end-to-end encrypted, which means only the people on the call can see and hear what's shared. Nonna cannot access, record, or store your call content.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What data does Nonna collect?">
    Nonna collects only what's needed to operate the app:

    * Your email address or phone number (for your account)
    * Device information and diagnostic data (to fix bugs and improve performance)

    Nonna does not use your data for advertising and does not sell your personal data. For full details, read the [Privacy Policy](/legal/privacy).
